How to Update Patient Information

Learn how to edit a patient’s contact details, prescriptions, or profile information in Otto. Use this when a patient’s phone number, email, address, or other details need to be updated.

 

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Click “Patients”

    • From the left-hand sidebar, click Patients.

  2. Search for the Patient

    • Click into the Patient Name search field at the top of the page.

    • Type the patient’s name.

  3. Open the Patient Profile

    • Click the patient’s name to open their profile page.

  4. Edit the Required Information

    • Click directly into the field you want to update (e.g., phone number, email address, mailing address, date of birth).

    • Make the necessary changes.

    You can update:

    • Contact information

    • Communication preferences

    • Insurance details

    • Prescriptions (via the Products & Prescriptions tab)

  5. Click “Save Patient”

    • Scroll if needed.

    • Click Save Patient to confirm your changes.


Important Notes

  • Changes will apply immediately once saved.

  • If updating a prescription:

    • Ensure the expiry date is correct to avoid refill issues.

    • Updating product parameters may impact automated order processing.

  • If a patient is not receiving reminders, confirm their email and mobile number are entered correctly.

  • Be sure to click Save Patient before leaving the page, or changes will not be stored.


When to Contact Support

  • If you are unable to edit a field.

  • If a prescription appears locked or cannot be updated.

  • If changes are not saving correctly.
