How to Update the Default Supplier for a Product

Learn how to change the default supplier for a product in Otto. This is useful if you work with multiple suppliers and want future orders for a product to route through a different vendor by default.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Click Products (box icon) in the left-hand sidebar.

  2. In the Your Catalog column, click into the Product search field.

  3. Type the name of the product (for example, “Ultra”) and select the correct product from the list.

  4. Click on the product name to open the detailed product view.

  5. Locate the Supplier or Default Supplier dropdown within the product settings.

  6. Click the supplier dropdown menu.

  7. Select the supplier you want to set as the new default.

  8. Confirm your selection (if prompted).
    Changes are saved automatically.

Future orders for this product will now default to the newly selected supplier.

Important Notes

  • This setting affects future orders only. Existing orders will not be changed.

  • If you are in the United States and use both ABB and OOGP, you can default to one but switch suppliers at the time of ordering if needed.

  • You will continue to receive invoices from your suppliers as usual.

  • If the product is set to Manual Fulfillment, it will not be sent to any supplier.

When to Contact Support

  • If the supplier you need does not appear in the dropdown

  • If orders are still routing to the wrong supplier after updating the default

  • If you require help configuring supplier integrations

Please submit a support ticket and include the product name and supplier you are trying to set.
