How to Export Patient Data and Prescriptions from Otto
Otto lets you export patient demographics and prescription data directly from the Patients tab — useful for custom reporting, practice analysis, or prescription review.
-
Go to the Patients tab in Otto, then click Export Patients in the top-right corner. This opens the export options.
-
Choose what you want to export. You'll see two options, Patients Only and Patients and Prescriptions - here is the difference:
- Patients Only
- Otto Patient ID
- Patient name (first & last)
- Contact information (email and phone number)
- Custom order link
- Patients and Prescriptions
- Everything in Patients only plus
- All assigned products on the patient's file
- Prescriptions
- Expiration date
- Exam dates
- Prescribing doctors.
Select whichever matches the data you need.
When is this useful?
The patient export is helpful any time you need to work with your patient data outside of Otto. Common use cases include:
- Exporting your full patient list for marketing campaigns or outreach
- Reviewing patient data for accuracy or completeness
- Auditing prescriptions to ensure expiration dates are entered on all files
- Identifying patients wearing specific products (e.g. a particular lens brand or design)
- Sharing patient or prescription records with your team for internal review
